Golfing, Orienteering and Lake Views
Connell Nature Trail begins at the Villa Entrance and passes next to a stream and through the wooded hills. Peters Creek Trail Loop starts from the Bike Trail near the highland field and loops through the woods, then along the lake edge. The paved Bicycle and Hiking Trail is a two-and-one half mile loop, that begins near the lodge playground, reaches the highland field, and passes through the golf course and woods. Campers Cove is a quarter mile out and back path which travels down to the lake edge along paths that were once used for primitive camping, open during camping season only.
Orienteering is a sport in woods navigation where a person uses a map and compass to complete a course. It can be done by yourself or with your family. It is a great way to spend part of the day discovering new parts of the park! Barren River Lake State Resort Park offers a two permanent orienteering courses. A beginners’ course covering 1.6 km featuring 9 controls (check points) and an intermediate course covering 3.9 km featuring 16 controls, both in a wooded setting.
