The definition of SPA is:  a mineral spring considered to have health-giving properties.  The Armour’s Hotel remains the only mineral spa hotel in the area and the State of Tennessee.  We are proud to continue this historic tradition.  If experiencing a mineral rich spa is on your wish list, the Armour’s Spa mineral bathhouse is your destination.

Hotel guests get first priority in the Spa.  When you book your room, you can also add the Spa Services to your reservation and we will set up your time or you can click on the link to book your preferred time.  If you have a preference, please note it in the booking.  You are always welcome to call ahead to confirm your time.

Day Use of the Spa for those not staying in the hotel is available and requires a reservation and prepayment.

We can accommodate parties of up to 4 people in a 2-hour time block.  Book the first person for your preferred spot and in the booking process, you will be given the opportunity to add the other members of your party.  The facilities are set up for one or two people in a party to soak in the baths and/or one or two people in a party on the therapeutic beds.  There are curtains in the bath area for those wanting privacy within your party. Red Boiling Springs Has a Long History with the Mineral Baths

Through the years the water in Red Boiling Springs, TN has been used for bathing, drinking, steam bathing, swimming, and fun.  Many people believe that there are medicinal properties of the water.  The Black Water is a Sulphur mineral magnesia with unique properties and is the water used for The Armour’s Mineral Baths.   Historically it was said that this black water had “a happy effect” on so called ‘Nerve Exhaustion and on Insomnia”.  Many people that soak in the water also find an improvement in their skin.

For over 100 years travelers have come to Red Boiling Springs to benefit from the five different types of mineral water unique to this area.

Historic Spa Destination

Documented praise of the mineral waters in Red Boiling Springs goes back to around 1874.  The 1880s saw a boom in the development of mineral springs spa hotels and resorts as summer getaways due to the popularity of places like Saratoga Springs in New York.  In the 1920s, a writer reported as many as 52 active springs in town.  The 1920’s and 1930’s would see thousands of visitors each year with as many as 14,000 visitors to our small town of approximately 800 residents at the time.
